Fatima is a proud member of the immigrant community. Her constant commitment to social change and to improve the working conditions of families has led her to be actively involved with diverse labor, community and immigrant groups. As a former Local 217 Union organizer, Fatima has a profound understanding of the importance of relationship-building between job coaches and New Haven Works members.
Fatima believes that we can only reduce crime rates in our neighborhoods if we can provide better educational opportunities to our children and we can sustain our families with dignity. She believes that if people in our community can have access to good jobs that offer benefits to its workers, the city will benefit. This is what has inspired her to join the New Haven Works team – helping people to plan their career and if possible connect them with good jobs.
Fatima has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Science. She lives with her 2 daughters and her husband. She enjoys being active at her daughters’ school. Her role as a school PTO President allows her to hear, motivate and engage with parents, teachers and administrators to improve different aspects of the school.
Fatima enjoys all kind of outdoors activities that include walking and biking to work.
