After being downsized from a large corporation in New York, Asberry felt it was time to look for work locally and joined New Haven Works. Asberry brings an abundance of finance experience to the table. One of the most notable roles would be his work as the Project Controls Specialist of a 1.5 billion dollar infrastructure. His forecasting and analysis of the work kept the project on track. In addition, Asberry has worked in different areas of finance including but not limited to payroll, cost control, and reconciliations.
Brittiany first heard of New Haven Works when working with a canvassing committee. She was laid off from her job in November of 2018 and joined the program in December. New Haven Works presented Brittiany to Yale Univesity’s Staffing department through a monthly event called a “Meet & Greet.” There, she received valuable feedback from Yale recruiters that she and her Job Coach quickly applied to strengthen her candidacy. She was able to obtain temporary employment with Yale University by February 2019. Brittiany was ecstatic that the process worked so quickly for her.
Paola Rodriquez joined the New Haven Works program in April of 2019. Paola wanted to transition to office/administrative work after 7 years in the restaurant industry. Ashley Greene, her job coach, helped her revise her resume to better promote her office skills. Shortly after applying those revisions, Paola received a job offer from Avangrid. With her new job schedule, she is able to pursue her degree and still make a livable wage with benefits.
